While most alpine ski resorts close their doors with the arrival of April, Kitzsteinhorn near Kaprun keeps going. The glacier ski resort above Kaprun plans operation until May 25, 2026 — thanks to its high altitude and reliable snow conditions, it guarantees snow into spring.

The 2025/2026 season launched on October 11, 2025, offering skiers nearly eight months on slopes. At the summit of Kitzsteinhorn at 3,029 meters sits 'Top of Salzburg' — the highest point accessible by cable car in Salzburg State, open year-round.
