Štrbské Pleso is the highest-lying ski resort in Slovakia with the longest ski season (December to April). It offers 9 km of slopes of varying difficulty, from easy ones for beginners to moderately challenging slopes like Solisko and Furkota, which will satisfy even experienced skiers. The snowpark with modern obstacles is a paradise for snowboarders and adrenaline junkies. Ski schools with professional instructors are available for beginners, and with a single ski pass, you can also ski in other Tatra resorts, such as Tatranská Lomnica or Starý Smokovec. Winter activities off the slopes
Štrbské Pleso is a cross-country skiing hub with 26.5 km of trails of varying difficulty. From easy routes suitable for children and beginners near Štrbské Pleso to challenging circuits in Furkotská Valley or around Slepé Pleso. The trails are perfectly groomed and offer magnificent views of the Tatra peaks. For evening skiing, illuminated circuits are available, such as the trail near SNP Stadium. Family activities
Both in winter and summer, the sledding track from Hrebienok to Starý Smokovec is a popular attraction, accessible by cable car from nearby Starý Smokovec. This 2.5 km long track is ideal for families and offers fun for all ages. Information and tickets:

Family activities
Take the legendary cable car to Lomnický štít (2,634 m), one of the highest and most iconic peaks in the High Tatras. After transfers in Tatranská Lomnica and at Skalnaté Pleso, the iconic red cabin will take you directly above the clouds. Up top, breathtaking 360° views of the Tatra peaks await you, along with a terrace, Dedo café, and a unique high-mountain atmosphere. Capacity is limited and rides are timed – we recommend buying tickets in advance. The weather changes quickly, so bring warm layers and sturdy footwear; a short stay at high altitude can be challenging.

Summer adventures
Štrbské Pleso is an ideal starting point for hikes of all difficulties. Popular routes include the ascent to Skok Waterfall (moderately difficult hike, approx. 2 hours), a walk to Popradské Pleso (easy route suitable for families), an ascent to Chata pod Soliskom with views of Kriváň, or more challenging hikes to peaks like Kriváň, Rysy, or Predné Solisko. For lovers of longer expeditions, there is the Tatra Magistrala, a 46 km long trail connecting the most beautiful places in the High Tatras. All trails are well-marked and offer unforgettable views. The High Tatras are among Slovakia’s most attractive cycling regions, offering a diverse network of cycling routes with magnificent mountain scenery. Here you’ll find everything from easy asphalt and gravel routes suitable for families, such as the Tatra Magistrala or routes around Štrbské Pleso, to more technical mountain sections for experienced cyclists.
Cable cars in the area allow for bicycle transport, making it easier to reach higher altitudes and enjoy long descents with views of the Tatra peaks. E-bikes are a great choice for families, recreational cyclists, or those who want to enjoy mountain terrain without excessive effort. Popular routes include circuits around Štrbské Pleso, Starý Smokovec, or connections between Tatra settlements.

This romantic way of spending time, which has its roots in the 20th century, offers a peaceful experience with views of the Tatra peaks.
